Outlook is a project that enables adults who use mental health services in Edinburgh
to take up a variety of educational opportunities. It is part of The City of Edinburgh Council's Children and Families Department.
Student
Progression
Students
are made welcome and we aim to make our services as accessible as possible to
everyone. The
Information Worker will discuss Outlook services and other learning opportunities
with the student and arrange a meeting between the student and an Adult Education Development Worker.

Adult Education Development Workers
The Development Workers
will identify the student's interests, discuss courses and services and provide
relevant guidance, information and support.The meeting is informal and confidential.

Enrolling
on a course
The Outlook Project offers free, short courses, ranging from creative
and technical subjects (e,g. Pottery, Creative Writing) to social and personal
studies (e.g. Media Studies, Literacy and Numeracy) and leisure activities (e.g.
Gardening, Languages).
The courses provide students with an opportunity to develop existing interests
and regain the confidence and skills they need to access wider options and resources.
The courses usually last two hours a week and run over a four to ten week period.
There are between four and ten students in a course, depending on the subject.

At
the end of the course the student may wish to access further opportunities such
as Community Based Adult Learning, Further Education, Higher
Education, Voluntary Work or Employment.
